OVER THE LAST YEAR, THE CENTER HAS ORGANIZED 7 COMMUNITY EVENTS AND PRESENTED AT 5 PROFESSIONAL CONFERENCES TO A TOTAL AUDIENCE OF OVER 1000 PEOPLE AS PART OF OUR MISSION TO SPREAD AWARENESS OF AND EDUCATION ABOUT FASD AND THEIR IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITIES!
The community events have primarily centered around showing the documentary Moment To Moment: Teens Growing Up with FASDs. This powerful film provides an excellent portrayal of the broad array of challenges that teens with FASDs and their families face, and has served as a good starting point for facilitating more in-depth discussions about FASD. So far, we have shown the film to over 500 people, including targeted viewings for medical professionals, substance abuse treatment center staff, youth corrections staff and inmates, and two showings at the Bear Tooth open to the general public.
Our board members have given presentations, participated in panels and led workshops at five conferences to a combined audience of over 500 people, including educators, mental health practitioners, addictions & behavioral health professionals, nurse midwives, and maternal & child healthcare providers.
